Sinn Féin education spokesperson Karen Mullan has welcomed the Education Authority’s new Funding Scheme for Regional and Local Voluntary Youth Organisations.
The Foyle MLA was commenting after meeting with EA officials in advance of the new funding scheme going live in the new year.
”Sinn Féin support the new funding arrangements which will allow the Education Authority to deliver on the aims of former Education Minister John O’ Dowd’s ‘Priorites for Youth’ policy.
”From my own experience in the community and voluntary sector I know only too well the difficulties there are for groups in trying to access funding.
”I am glad to see that this new funding scheme will allow groups to access up to 3 years funding at a time. This will give organisations greater clarity and give them the ability to plan and prepare beyond a one year funding cycle.
”The Education Authority intends to carry out a number of information sessions and I would encourage groups and organisations who will be accessing this scheme to go along.”
