Sinn Féin Health spokesperson Patricia Logue has said the review of Neurology services must be based on partnership from the outset.
Commenting after the Department of Health announced a review of neurology services would begin in September, Councillor Logue said:
“Neurology services have been under severe pressure for some time and patients have faced long waiting times.
“The Neurology workforce has been put under even more pressure as a result of the recall of 2,500 neurology patients of Dr Watt.
“In that context I welcome plans to review neurology services.
“Designing and delivering transformation in partnership with patients and staff is a fundamental objective set by the previous health Minister Michelle O’Neill in her Delivering Together plan.
“The review of neurology services must be based on partnership from the outset.
“That includes developing the terms of reference for the review in partnership with those who deliver and those who use neurology services.”
