Sinn Féin Foyle MLAs Pádraig Delargy and Ciara Ferguson will take up their roles on Assembly scrutiny committees this week.
Pádraig Delargy will join the Infrastructure Committee, while Ciara Ferguson will join the Communities Committee.
Speaking after attending their first committee meetings, Pádraig Delargy MLA said:
“Delivery of the A5 Derry-Dublin road and expanding and improving rail links to connect the north west to the rest of the island will be key priorities for me while on the Infrastructure Committee.
“We have already seen huge investment to improve Infrastructure in this area with the delivery of the A6 road and the new state-of-the-art Transport Hub in the Waterside.
“It’s crucial that we scrutinise and hold the Minister to account on the important everyday issues like potholes, improving roads and making them safer. I will give communities a voice on that committee.”
Ciara Ferguson MLA added:
“Having worked in the community for over 20 years, I’m passionate about improving people’s lives and delivering more community facilities.
“This is an exciting opportunity for the city, and I will get stuck in to help shape the delivery of major projects and investment.
“I look forward to working alongside Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey to continue transforming local communities in Derry and across the north.” CRÍOCH/ENDS
