Mayor welcomes City of Derry Drama Festival

The Mayor Cllr Paul Fleming has welcomed the City of Derry Drama Festival for 2010, as it begins its 30th year

All shows take place within the Waterside Theatre and the wide range of performances promises to cater for all tastes. The Mayor acknowledged the hard work and effort the organisers have put into the event, and extended his thanks to all involved.

"I am delighted to see the 30th annual City of Derry Drama Festival back on the stage. This festival provides an important forum for local players to showcase their talents and entertain audiences. With such a wide range of plays on offer, I would encourage as many people as possible to attend the shows, especially people who would normally go to the theatre. I wish all involved the very best for a successful event"

The 30th City of Derry Drama Festival opened on Friday 5th March with performances every night at 8.00 pm until Saturday 13th March. The programme includes By The Bog of Cats by Marina Carr, performed by the Breffni Players from Co Leitrim and Brian Friel's Philadelphia Here I Come performed by the Lifford Players as well as Three Tall Women by Edward Albee, performed by Theatre 3 Newtownabbey.

Tickets for the festival are available from the Waterside Theatre Box Office priced at £8 and £6 concessionary. A season ticket for all nine nights is competitively priced at £40 and £30 concessionary and. For further details contact 028 7131 4000
