Sinn Féin calls for Tourist Information Office in Bogside

Sinn Féin Local government Spokesperson on Tourism, Councillor Maeve Mc Laughlin has called on the NI Tourist Board (NITB) to give consideration to the establishment of a satellite Tourist Information Office in the Bogside.
Councillor McLaughlin said:
"A Tourist Information Office in the Bogside with its unique history and Cultural Tourism appeal would enrich the visitor experience and I believe would act as a catalyst for setting up of other tourist amenities in the area.
"I don't believe that the present marketing strategy by Derry City Council and the Visitor and Convention Bureau or NITB are utilising the potential of the Bogside's appeal to visitors to full advantage. A dedicated Office staffed by people with intimate knowledge of the recent as well as ancient history of the area would ensure a positive and well informed visitor experience.
"Such an initiative should attract support from NITB and An Bord Fáilte.
