Sinn Féin Human Rights & Equality spokesperson, Foyle MLA Martina Anderson commenting after Derry hosted its first ever Foyle Pride parade
Martina Anderson said
"I want to commend all those who helped organise and participated in the first ever Foyle Pride parade on Saturday, as well as the week long series of events and the citizens of Derry for embracing this celebration of our diversity.
It was great to see such a large crowd in attendance and the hundreds of people who lined the streets in the city centre for the very colourful parade and attending events in the Guildhall Square afterwards
Foyle pride makes an invaluable and positive contribution to the life of Derry. It promotes understanding and respect and seeks to ensure that all citizens have equal access to all public services and are treated as valued citizens by civic institutions.
I wish it every success in the years ahead.
