Sinn Féin Foyle MLA Martina Anderson has said that the opening of two new schools in Derry this week will be a massive step forward for education in the city.

Her comments come as St Cecilia's and St Mary's Colleges prepare for the intake of new pupils at Bligh's Lane and Northland Road

Martina Anderson said

"This week St Cecilia's and St Mary's Colleges will be opening two brand news schools at Bligh's Lane and Northland Road .

This will be a very exciting time for staff and pupils at both schools and will be a massive step forward for education in our city

Both schools have outstanding reputations in terms of delivering a first class education to young women in this city and these new state of the art facilities will allow that tradition to continue.

"The opening of St Cecilia's and St Mary's Colleges further underpins Sinn Féin commitment to the education of our children and adds these two schools to the already new builds of St Josephs, St Patrick's Pennyburn, Thornhill College, Lisneal College, and St John's Primary completed under Sinn Féin Ministers.
