Vandalism attack at site of new proposed housing project-LoguePublished: 3 September, 2010
Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has condemned vandals who ransacked a number of units at the site of a new proposed housing development on Bligh's Lane Patricia Logue commenting said "It's believed that a group of young people gained access to the site shortly after 9.30pm on Tuesday night and basically went on a wrecking spree. A number of windows in the units were smashed and damaged caused to other property on the site" There have been a number of such incidents of vandalism in the general Bligh's Lane area over the summer months and we recently had the attack on machinery at a building site of new houses in Rosemount costing thousands of pounds worth of damage. I would like to state clearly that those involved in these attacks are unrepresentative of the local community .It absolutely ridiculous that anyone would even contemplate carrying out such attacks I know its very hard to secure such open sites but I feel there is a need for extra security to be put on this site to prevent such incidents reoccurring and holding up any development on this site.
