Sinn Féin Councillor Sandra Duffy said the British Government must honour its commitments to victims and survivors of historical institutional abuse without anymore delays.
The Ballyarnett Councillor was responding to comments by the Lord Chief Justice branded the lack of progress ‘shocking’.
“Today’s intervention by the Lord Chief Justice echoes the call of political parties and campaign groups who have challenged delays on legislating for victims of historical abuse.
“The new British Secretary of State has made commitments to bringing forward the required legislation for victims and survivors – he must act on that, because words are not enough.
“These are people who have continuously been let down, time and time again. There can be no more delays.”
