Chair of Derry Councils Environmental services committee Councillor Colly Kelly has welcomed the news that a Dog fouling box has been installed on one of the city’s busiest streets on the Lone Moor Road outside Celtic Park GAA ground .
Colly Kelly said “This is one of the busiest stretches of footpath in the city .Hundreds of walkers, runners, dog walkers would use it on a daily basis as well as local residents. Because of its location beside Celtic Park GAA ground, the Brandywell Stadium and City Cemetery its is always a very busy area, just last weekend we had hundreds of people at Celtic Park for the game between Derry and Kerry.
I receive complaints regularly from residents about a small number of dog owners who let their pets foul without cleaning up along this section of pathway particularly from the top of Stanley’s Walk right out to the Brandywell Stadium, it can be particularly bad.
Hopefully the installation of this new bin will help alleviate some of these health hazards and I would encourage dog owners to make use of it to dispose of their pets waste.
