Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan has hailed the opening of the new Medical School at the Magee Campus in Derry as a ‘historic day’ for the city.
The Foyle MLA said:
“I’m delighted that the new Medical School at Magee has opened its doors to the first batch of students today.
“This is a historic day for the city and the culmination of years of hard work by many people to get us to this important moment.
“This school will help deliver more doctors and medical staff into our communities to care for people and save lives.
“It’s also a major boost for the north west’s economy and alongside the wider expansion of Magee, can help unlock Derry’s economic potential and establish this area as a centre of excellent for medical studies.
“I would like to wish all the students starting at the new medical school today all the best in their studies and for the future.” Críoch/Ends—
