Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has asked Roads Service and PSNI to carry out an exercise in next few weeks to deter illegal parking in the Aberfoyle and Northlands areas as the new university term is about to start.
Councillor Cooper said “There are long standing issues around commuter parking and the high volume of traffic travelling through the area and the subsequent inconvenience this is creating for residents, pedestrians and motorists.
To deter people from illegal parking, blocking driveways I feel that as the new term is about to start it’s important to raises awareness particularly with new students about the problems being encountered in the area.
I have been in contact with DRD Roads Service and PSNI and asked them to carry out an exercise in next few weeks to deter illegal parking in the Aberfoyle and Northlands areas.
This will not solve all the problems being encountered by residents but would be a positive step in the right direction to help the situation.
