Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has welcomed the news tonight that plans have been passed for the transformation of what is known locally as the Daisyfield just off Foyle Road.

The plans include a new sports centre, changing pavilion and to replace the existing pitches with a new grass pitch and a 3G pitch with floodlights along with associated car parking.

Councillor Logue said “I am very pleased that these plans have been passed to totally transform the Daisyfield. Its good news for Ballymoor FC, Oak Leaf Boxing club, the Over the Hill snooker club and other users.

“I have campaigned for many years to see the total redevelopment of the entire Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium , the Showgrounds, Playpark and the Daisyfield developed. It is great to see this all coming to fruition. This is another piece of the overall jigsaw in plans for the area and I look forward to seeing these plans become a reality.
