Sinn Féin Councillor Sandra Duffy met today with An Taoiseach to discuss how the Irish government can support attracting jobs and investment and the delivery of key projects in the wider north west.
Councillor Duffy, the chair of the North West Regional Development Group, met with Taoiseach Micheal Martin alongside the mayors of both Derry City and Strabane District Council and Donegal County Council.
“There is a clear need to attract jobs and investment to both Derry and Donegal and that is the clear message we gave to An Taoiseach when we met him.
“The delivery of the A5 road upgrade, the continued expansion of Magee and the development of a high-speed rail link between Derry and Dublin are key projects which will help transform the north west and create jobs and opportunities.
“We had a positive meeting with An Taoiseach and we’re hopeful that we will see extra funding from the Irish government in the time ahead.”
