Councillor Peter Anderson representing the Cityside Ward

First elected to the Cityside ward in 1997 Peter has been involved in Republican politics for most of his adult life and was Deputy Mayor of Derry in 2001. Peter currently works in the Community based project of Dove House Resource Centre in the Bogside area of Derry where he specialises in welfare rights and social security appeals. Peter is married to Josephine and his spare time Peter is a local pub quiz master and a firm Derry City supporter


Councillor Gerry MacLochlainn representing Northlands Ward

Councillor Gerry MacLochlainn Councillor MacLochlainn was Sinn Féin activist in London before returning to his native Derry. A former Republican prisoner in an English gaol Gerry represents the Northland ward of Derry. Gerry is the local spokesperson on environmental issues and is member of the local City of Derry airport committee. Gerry married to Sinead now works for a community project in the Top of the Hill area of Derry which offers a widespread of services to the local community.


Councillor Elisha McLaughlin representing the Shantallow Ward

Elisha McLaughlin is the youngest councillor on Derry's Sinn Féin council team and represents the Shantallow ward. Elisha first became involved in politics while still at school and was a member of Ógra Sinn Féin. Elisha works part time in Galliagh an area of severe economic and social need in a welfare and benefits office as well as staffing the Shantallow Sinn Féin centre.


Councillor Billy Page representing the Northlands Ward

Councillor Billy Page represents the Northland ward in Derry and has been involved in Republican and community politics all his life. Imprisoned in the cages of Long Kesh at an early age Billy became involved in community politics upon his release in 1987 as a Sinn Féin activist. Married with three children Billy is the spokesperson on health matters within Derry City Council and a member of the Western Health and Social Service Council and the Ballymagroarty Hazlebank partnership


Councillor Patricia Logue representing the Cityside Ward

Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue is married with six children and lives in the Brandywell area of the city which she represents as a councillor in the Cityside ward. A republican of long standing Patricia is well known in the area due to her involvement in community politics as she headed the local Save the Brow of the Hill campaign, a local campaign to save an area with a wood of large oak trees one of the few in that area. Patricia is also a member of the Children's Commission and Traveller welfare group as well as being a board member of local community advice centre Dove House and community centre Pilots Row.


Councillor Kevin Campbell representing Cityside Ward

Councillor Kevin Campbell has been involved in Republican politics all of his adult life and has spent three terms in Long Kesh for his beliefs. Interned in the early 70's Kevin was also on the blanket and no wash protests during the late seventies and spent time in Long Kesh in the late 80's and early 90's. A fluent Gaelic speaker Kevin is an Irish language activist and is currently studying for a degree in the language . Kevin married to Deirdre with one child Grainne represents the Creggan area of the Cityside ward where he works as a community activist with Creggan Neighbourhood Partnership.


Councillor Lynn Fleming representing the Waterside Ward

Sinn Féin Councillor Lynn Fleming comes from a well known Republican family in the Waterside area of Derry. A committed republican Lynn has been involved in politics most of her adult life. Lynn became the first woman Sinn Féin Mayor of Derry in 2005 and was proud to represent all the people of the city. Part of a brother and sister councillor team on Derry City Council Lynn is also is a member of the Port and Harbour Commission, Local Strategy Partnership and Waterside Neighbourhood Partnership. A mother to four children Lynn lives in the Waterside area she represents.


Councillor Tony Hassan representing the Shantallow Ward

Sinn Féin Councillor Tony Hassan represents the Shantallow ward where he is well known for his commitment to the local community. Tony has championed the cause of the homelessness and has campaigned tirelessly for more affordable and social housing and is spokesperson for Housing with Derry Sinn Féin. Tony has been involved in Republican politics all of his lifeand was firdt elected to derry City Council in 1997 and during that time has held the Chairperson of various departments. Tony is also a member of the Shantallow Area Partnership and is on the Board of Governors of St Brigid's College and a member of the Environmental Services inOmagh


Councillor Paul Fleming representing the Rural Ward

The other half of the brother and sister team on Derry City Council Councillor Paul Fleming represents the rural ward of the city. Involved in republican politics from an early age Paul was arrested in his teenage years and sentenced to Long Kesh. Released in the mid nineties Paul immediately became politically active in Sinn Féin. Elected to Derry City Council in 2001 Paul has represented the Rural Ward since. Paul is a director or RAPID the rural area partnership and a member of the Western Education and Library Board. Paul is currently the chairperson of Derry Sinn Fein the second time that he has held the post in the past ten years.


Councillor Maeve McLaughlin representing the Northlands Ward

Maeve McLaughlin represents the Northlands ward in the city where she works in the community sector. First elected to Derry City Council in 2001 Maeve is the Sinn Féin group leader on the council. Maeve became involved in politics at an early age and was active in politics during her time at University. Maeve is currently chair of the Development Committee on Derry city council and a member of the North West Cross Border Group. Maeve is also the party's education spokesperson and a member of the Western Education and Library Board.


Martina Anderson MLA

Martina Anderson is from the Bogside area of Derry. She has been involved with the Republican struggle for over 30 years. Having spent over13 years in prisons in England and Ireland she was released under the terms of the GFA and immediately became involved in party work. Read full bio
