Elected in 2001 to the Rural ward and for the past ten years and is a member of the Rural Area Partnership in Derry (RAPID) currently serves on ARC NW the body delivering the current rural development plan and has also served as Chair of a number of committees on Council including Planning ,Policy and Resources. Paul had the privilege to serve as the Mayor of Derry from 2009-2010
