Rose Court play park closed after vandalism attack -McLaughlin

Sinn Féin Waterside representative Sharon McLaughlin has said she is deeply disappointment at the closure of the play park at Rose Court following vandalism there.

She said “ I am deeply disappointed at a spate of  vandalism at the play park in  Rose Court.

“A decision has been made by the Council and local community representatives to close the park until further notice, until the damage has been repaired as this is a health and safety issue.

“The park at Rose Court is a vital part of the community and there was a hard fought campaign over many years to get constructed .

“Playtime is vitally important to the children for their fun and relaxation as well as good for their health and well-being. It also plays an important role in their daily life for fulfilling their interest, development and learning needs, as well as social skills.

“There is an onus on parents to talk to their children and explain the consequences of the vandalism and the inconvenience  the  closure of this facility will have on local families.
