Bhí Sandra ar an chéad duine a toghadh ar Chomhairle Chathair Dhoire agus Cheantar an tSrátha Báin, mar ionadaí do Bhaile Arnóid. Tá Sandra gníomhach san earnáil títhíochta le tamall fada agus tá nascanna láidre aici fosta leis na hearnálacha pobail is deonacha sa chathair.

Sandra was the first person elected to the new Derry City and Strabane District Council representing the Ballyarnet Ward.


She has worked tirelessly for the community and the wider city as a party activist holding several roles including chairperson of the Shantallow/ Culmore Cumann.


She has worked in the field of housing and homelessness for 17 years and heads up a service within First Housing, helping to prevent homelessness among young people in our city.


Sandra has developed strong working relationships within the statutory, community and voluntary sectors. She has been a board member of the Citizens Advice Bureau in Derry for more than eight years and also sits on the Board of Governors of St. Columb’s College, highlighting her passion for young people and education.


Sandra also has a keen interest in promoting her local community and plays a leading role in St. Joseph’s Amateur Boxing Club based in Galliagh. She also sits on the Board of Directors of the Greater Shantallow Area Partnership and the Management Committee of the Off The Streets initiative.
