Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan and Councillor Aileen Mellon have met with the Department of Education today in relation to the Skeoge site.
The Foyle MLA said after work being carried out over many years by Sinn Féin and local community partners they found it difficult to get answers from the Education Authority as to their intent on the two sites.
Karen Mullan said, “We met with the Department of Education to get clarity on land earmarked in Skeoge for education.”
“There is a lack of community infrastructure in the Skeoge area and we want to ensure that the right services are in place alongside the growing housing developments there.
“Now is the time for the Education Authority and the Department to publish their plans to allow others to move forward and plan in partnership for the area.”
“The meeting was very positive, and we hope to receive clarity on this issue very soon.
“The Skeoge site will be a huge development for the City and it is vitally important that all relevant agencies are pulling in the same direction”
