The latest economic survey highlights the growing imperative of Irish reunification, Sinn Féin MP Elisha McCallion has said.
The MP for Foyle was speaking after the survey compiled by the IMD business school ranked British economic competitiveness at 23rd in the world, slipping three places from 2017, while the south of Ireland was ranked seventh, up five places.
“The British economy is weakening and worse is to come if the Tories and the DUP deliver the disaster of Brexit,” Elisha McCallion commented.
“Meanwhile the southern economy is growing rapidly.
“In this context it is no wonder that many businesses and workers in the north are coming to the conclusion that they will be better off in a United Ireland that is at the heart of Europe.”
