Tackling holiday hunger & Anti poverty strategy must be a priority in the time ahead

Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan has said tackling holiday hunger and progressing an effective anti-poverty strategy must be a priority in the time ahead.

Speaking after meeting with Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey alongside Martina Anderson MLA, the Foyle MLA said:

“We welcomed the opportunity to meet with the Communities Minister on our ongoing work to tackle holiday hunger and progress the anti-poverty strategy.

“The recent Executive commitment to extend funding for free school meals until 2022 is welcome and will provide support to the 100,000 children that receive it.

“My focus, through my bill, is to tackle holiday hunger in the long term and ensure that no child goes hungry. I welcome Minister Hargey’s support and commitment to work with others to achieve that.”
