Speaking after meeting the British government and Labour party in Westminster today, Sinn Féin MP Elisha McCallion said there can be no renegotiation of the Withdrawal Agreement and backstop.
The Foyle MP said:
“We met today with the British Secretary of State Karen Bradley in Westminster to discuss the ongoing Brexit crisis in the British parliament and reiterated our position that the backstop is not open for renegotiation.
“We also met with the British Labour party’s shadow secretary of state Tony Lloyd today to convey the same message.
“At both engagements we made it absolutely clear that the British Parliament cannot tear up or alter the Irish backstop.”
