Sinn Féin Councillor Sandra Duffy has welcomed the unanimous backing of her motion at this evening’s council meeting raising awareness of domestic violence in the city and region.
Speaking following the passing of the motion, Councillor Duffy said,
“It’s welcome that the full council has tonight voted in favour of the motion that we tabled calling for the recognition of the concerning rise in the number of reports of domestic violence in the district.
“I would also commend the work undertaken by La Dolce Vita in raising not only awareness of domestic violence and parental alienation, but also in supporting victims of such crimes.
“There can be no place for domestic violence in our society and everyone, including council, has a role to play in preventing it.”
