Upsurge in anti-community activity Ballymagroarty –McGinley

Sinn Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has called on parents to ensure that their children are not involved in  recent anti-community incidents in Ballymagroarty.

Cllr. McGinley said: “In recent weeks there has been an increase in anti-community activity which has included the stoning of vehicles and the lighting of fires of which have resulted in the blocking of roads.

These actions are being carried out by a small number of teenagers and I would appeal to parents in the Ballymagroarty area to ensure that they are aware of their children’s whereabouts.

There is an increasing sense of frustration within the community at the regularity of these incidents and parents need to be aware that the children involved will inevitably come to the attention of the criminal justice system and the consequences this will have for their future.

Parents need to be mindful of their children’s behaviour and to play their part in bringing an end to this recent destructive behaviour in Ballymagroarty.”
