Following Sinn Féin representatives meeting with the Chief Executive of Community Pharmacy NI (CPNI), Councillor Sandra Duffy has criticised the Department of Health for the inadequate response to the ongoing crisis in the community pharmacy sector.
The local health spokesperson said:
“The Community Pharmacist Network survey reveals that pharmacists are increasingly concerned about the shortfall in the number of staff and their ability to sustain safe services for patients.
“Community pharmacies provide vital frontline services, but with significant underfunding and a lack of strategic workforce planning, there are real concerns that the service will become unsafe.
“The Department of Health needs to engage with CPNI representatives to resolve the issues around workforce shortages and funding pressures.”
