Vital training project gets £200,000 funding -Cooper‏‏

Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed the news that Derry City and Strabane District Council have match funded £200,000 to unlock a larger pot of European Social Fund funding which will benefit a number of training projects across city and district.

Councillor Cooper said “This has come about as a culmination of work between party representatives the training agencies and council which will safeguard training jobs.

It will allow essential skills courses and other accredited programmes to be delivered to those most in need of them and also allows the training organisations to avail of substantial financial assistance from ESF (European social fund) which would not have been possible without council support.

I thank council’s development department for the strategic approach they have taken which has safeguarded jobs and also ensured the skills base in the city will be enhanced over the coming year.
